June 2021
Hello Neighbors!
It’s Summer and getting hot outside again! With most facilities back to 100% occupancy, you can relax poolside or at your favorite restaurant spot with friends and family again. But as it gets hotter outside, please make sure not to leave kids or pets in those hot cars. Stay safe and have fun!
As always, please feel free to contact me and my team by phone at (702) 455-3500 or by email at ccdistf@clarkcountynv.gov. You can also follow me @JustinJonesNV on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the latest events in the District.

In his 31 years as a Clark County resident, Ron Quinn has been a valued volunteer for LGBTQ organizations as well as many other non-profits throughout Clark County. His first local volunteer experience within the Las Vegas LGBTQ community was in 2007 as a volunteer for the very first Human Rights Campaign Las Vegas family picnic. As his work with HRC continued he held many positions within the organization locally and nationally.
In 2011 he was honored as National Volunteer of the Year with the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, D.C. and went on to serve two 2-year terms on the HRC National Board of Governors. While Ron has stepped back from any formal role within any local LGBTQ organizations, he continues to support each of them in many aspects. Thank you, Ron, for your contributions to the Las Vegas LGBTQ community and all of Clark County.

Ads and stories from the Las Vegas Age newspaper make frequent appearances in this section of the newsletter. When searching the archives for information about Father's Day, it was puzzling that there were very few mentions of the holiday in the newspaper that was published from 1905 to 1947 - especially since there had been so many for Mother's Day. The reason is that Father's Day wasn't declared a national holiday until 1972! Even though it wasn't an official holiday, the ads in the Las Vegas Age still had some interesting suggestions and thoughts about the celebration of fatherhood. And, it's nice to know that "homely" and "sick" dads weren't forgotten.
