Hello Friends!
With COVID-19 restrictions loosening, we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and are excited to get back out in the community for fun, safe, outdoor events. To keep moving forward to 100% reopening by June 1st, it is critical that everyone get vaccinated. If you haven’t already, please schedule your appointment today at https://vax4nv.nv.gov/ or take advantage of one of our no-appointment-necessary community vaccination events. Together, we can do this!
As always, please feel free to contact me and my team by phone at (702) 455-3500 or by email at ccdistf@clarkcountynv.gov. You can also follow me @JustinJonesNV on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the latest events in the District.

There are so many ways to show how much mom is appreciated - nice dinners, flowers, and candy are some of the things that come to mind in our modern age. But, in in years past they had some different ideas. Below is a portion of an ad from the May 9, 1929 issue of the Las Vegas Age newspaper suggesting that large household appliances may be the way to mom's heart. Another part of the ad stated that "Leisure is Pleasure" and suggested electric waffle irons, percolators, or toasters as gifts. Whether you are hoping for roses - or a refrigerator - all of #TeamJones wishes a very Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful moms in District F!

As an owner of multiple Massage Envy locations, Marissa Hawkins is in the business of making individuals feel good. But, through her charitable work in the community she has been helping thousands of Southern Nevada residents feel great. In October, the teams at Massage Envy donated over 1,200 massage and facial services (equivalent to over $140,000) to the Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada in appreciation of their hard work on the frontlines of the pandemic. In February, Massage Envy and partners led a book drive that raised 4,000 books for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders to be able to take home for summer reading. On Friday, May 7th, one nurse from each of the 14 valley hospitals will win a wonderful package of gifts provided through the partnership of Orange Theory, Mama Bird, Lake Las Vegas Hilton, Reflection Bay, and Massage Envy. The program was developed to show support to those who are risking their lives to save our community. Thank you, Marissa, for helping to make our community a better place!

Work zones are a fact of life when yo live in a rapidly growing area. While they are a temporary inconvenience, they are necessary to develop improved and safer roads or for maintenance of facilities within the public right-of-way. Work Zones vary from shoulder work to complete road closures. Due to the inherent dangers of working next to moving traffic, State Law creates Double Penalties for certain moving infractions within the Work Zone where fines can be up to $1000. Double Penalty signage is required at the beginning and end of the area road work area. The existing speed limit is maintained in most cases, but if a reduced speed is necessary due to physical conditions, the reduced speed limit will be clearly indicated. Double Penalties are in effect if workers are present within the Work Zone or conditions exist such as lane reductions, lane narrowing, lane shifting and uneven roadway surfaces. Double Penalties are not required on residential streets posted at 25 miles per hour.
For more information about Work Zones, Signage, and other Traffic concerns, visit the Traffic Safety Info section of Clark County Public Works webpage.

Samantha, her mustang, Sage, and her dog, Juniper, began their 500 mile journey on Saturday, May 1st. They are riding from southern Nevada all the way to northern Nevada in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Wild Horse and Burro Act. The trip began at Cowboy Trail rides in Red Rock. They made a quick stop in Blue Diamond as they headed south. On Sunday, the team stopped for the night in Goodsprings where they visited the Pioneer Saloon and met up with burros Rocky and Lillee. Rocky was adopted as an orphan from the Goodsprings herd 3 years ago and was happy to welcome Samantha and her crew to his neck of the woods. The Nevada Discovery Ride continues through June 12th in Carson Valley. To follow their progress and get updates from the trail, visit NevadaDiscoveryRide.com or search for Nevada Discovery Ride on Facebook.
