Join us for a casual hike dedicated to spotting our fine feathered friends during the spring migration.  All abilities of birders are welcome.  Bring a pair of binoculars if you have them, extra binoculars are available for those who don't.  Spaces limited.

Eyes on Eagles

Join a naturalist by the Eagle Viewing area along Mercer Lake to take a peek at an eagles' nest through a spotting scope and to have your eagle questions answered. The viewing area is a 5-minute walk from the Mercer County Park-West picnic area parking lot. 

No registration required. Drop in encouraged. 

 

Rain Barrel Workshop

Learn about the benefits of rain barrels, build your own and learn how to install it with the help of our AmeriCorps Watershed Ambassador. Spaces are limited. Register by Family Group - 1 Rain Barrel per group.  Keep an eye out for registration link on:

Animal Tracks

Identifying animals by their tracks and recognizing game trails can be a daunting task when you are first learning the skill. Join us in an animal tracks hike where we will investigate the forest and marsh to learn how to identify animals by their tracks and spot their ideal pathways.

Stand Tall Yoga 

Every Tuesday Morning 

10-11 am 

Tulpehaking Nature Center 

$5/person. Free to Members of the Friends for the Abbott Marshlands. 

Ages 12 and Up

Keep your body and mind healthy in this yoga class designed to improve overall strength, flexibility, and balance. We begin seated in a chair, and then move to standing poses, and close with a short guided meditation. Please bring a non-slip yoga mat. Any level welcome. Sponsored by Friends for the Abbott Marshlands.

Standing Yoga and Nature Walk

Join a naturalist and a wildlife rehabilitator at the Mercer County Wildlife Center’s Outdoor Education Environment! You’ll learn what adaptations make an owl such an awesome predator of the night. You will also meet the wildlife ambassador owls and have fun with owl activities.

Guided Nature Walk

Getting out in nature is great for our bodies and our minds. Join us as we explore a different park trail each month, while admiring various elements of nature. Wear sturdy shoes, bring binoculars, and dress for the weather.

Barn Swallow Celebration

Howell Living History Farm

One of the surest signs of spring at Howell Living History Farm is the arrival of the barn swallows. Those little blue and white birds travel all the way from South America to build their nests in the beams above the horse stalls. Celebrate their annual return with family activities, a walk to their feeding and nesting spots, and a bird's eye view of the farm!

Art in the Marsh - Painting Spring Wildflowers

Join us outside the Tulpehaking Nature Center, where we will first look at some beautiful spring wildflowers. Then, we will go inside where artist Margaret Simpson will talk about the art of sketching wildflowers and help us paint some of the ones we saw. Materials provided.
