To the residents of Mercer County,
As I prepare for the end of my final term as County Executive, I cannot help but reflect on the many accomplishments my administration achieved over the past 20 years. Thank you for the privilege of serving you and for the rewarding life in public office that has allowed me to lead. I strive each day to serve our County honorably. It is my belief that I did just that over the past two decades.
I want to thank my Chief of Staff, Kelly Ganges, for his tireless devotion to the residents of Mercer County. I could not have provided the outstanding services without Mr. Ganges’ help, and I am grateful for his proud service and his time by my side.
I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to thank the members of my administration. While several members have been with me since my first term, and others have joined in recent years, our collaborative efforts have produced remarkable achievements. Whether it is recognition for outstanding engineering design, to credit for land preservation, to ensuring housing for our homeless veteran population, to providing workforce training for the formerly incarcerated, my administration has carefully crafted programs that have had enormous benefits while simultaneously controlling our tax rate. Legendary coach Vince Lombardi once said, "Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work." That, too, is what I found, and I am grateful for my talented and diverse administration.
I have many to thank. I thank the voters who elected me for five terms. It was their trust that I valued and considered when making every decision. To them, thank you for the years of support. I thank my dear wife Pamela and my son Sullivan. They, and my entire extended family, stood by me and provided endless support, and I could not have done it without them.
I look forward to the quality time we will share in the years to come. I thank the Congressional members past and present who secured federal funds for Mercer County. I thank the Governors of past and present who provided insightful encouragement and the much-needed resources that helped make Mercer County stronger.
As I conclude my term in office on December 31, 2023, I remain dedicated to improving our county and making sure that everyone’s voice is heard.
I hope you will continue to support me and the new administration in this ongoing effort.
Thank you again for your support. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
