Concerts
AUGUST 7, 5 p.m. Trinidelphia at Nassau Park Pavilion
West Windsor Arts Council 952 Alexander Road, Princeton (609) 716-1931 | westwindsorarts.org
West Windsor Arts is proud to present a summer concert series at Nassau Park Pavilion! Our second concert will feature the tropically melodic stylings of Trinidelphia.
Trinidelphia has been pleasing audiences with their distinct combination of Caribbean and American styles for over a decade, after meeting in Philadelphia in 2005. Fusing Trinidadian Soca and Calypso with Latin Jazz, Reggae, Salsa, and American top-40, they have developed a sound all their own. Their unique and rhythmic arrangements of jazz and popular songs cast the steelpan in fresh new light, pushing the stylistic and artistic boundaries of an often type-cast instrument. Fronted by Steel Drummer/Trumpeter Chris Aschman and Lead Vocalist/Percussionist Shawn Hennessey, they are complemented by the dynamic rhythm section of Ian Rafalak on bass and Matt Chenery on drumset/vocals.
Opening the show will be eclectic, contemporary cellist Dan Kassel.
Emotionally provocative and layered in symphonic warmth, Dan Kassel’s solo cello music brings this classical instrument to new heights. Using an acoustic cello, a Boss RC-50 looping station and minimal effects, Dan bridges the gaps between Klezmer and Irish folk, Indian classical and down-tempo electronic music, levity and suspense. His ability to use technology to loop and layer his instrument into expansive tapestries of sound is impressive, but the element that really stands out is the cello’s deep and moving resonance.
Concert is located at the gazebo behind Panera Bread in Nassau Park Pavilion. “Doors” at 5pm. FREE AND FAMILY FRIENDLY!

AUGUST 11, 7 p.m. Virtual - More Than a Myth: In Appreciation of Penelope Stout
The Mercer County Library, Lawrence Headquarters Branch 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville (609) 883-8294 | mcl.org
Penelope Stout is claimed as the “Mother of Monmouth” and the “Mother of Middletown.” Her 17th century arrival and settlement in the New World is the stuff of legend – shipwrecked, attacked by Indians, saved by Indians, arrival in Dutch New Amsterdam, and finally the establishment of a new life in Middletown, NJ with husband Richard Stout and fellow English settlers under the Monmouth Patent in 1665. The Stout name bears witness to her progeny far beyond Middletown into other New Jersey and nationwide locations. Penelope’s story as “mythistory” is a compelling one as we appreciate her role in the American enterprise. Presented by Jeanne M. Vloyanetes, faculty member at Brookdale Community College. Co-sponsored by the Hopewell Valley Historical Society, The Hopewell Museum, and the Friends of the Hopewell Library. Please email hopeprogs@mcl.org to register to receive link to program.
