Dodson is an independent and former New York Times senior editor, writer and consultant. She has taught workshops on writing and editing for many organizations including the National Black Writers Conference, the National Association of Black Journalists, the American Press Institute, the American Society of Newspaper Editors and various colleges. She has also been an adjunct instructor in media studies at Mercer County Community College. Her book, published in 2017, is about the woman’s suffrage movement in the United States and women’s political gains up to the present. Some of the houses to be discussed are Wooldon Manor, the home of Jesse Woolworth Donahue; Black Point, the H. H. Rogers mansion; Bayberry Land, the du Ponts’ Chestertown House; Villa Mille Fiore; Red Maples; and The Orchard, one of architect Stanford White’s last great commissions. Renowned architect and historian Gary Lawrance’s talk will also give a brief history of the founding of the Summer Colony. Copies of Mr. Lawrance’s book will be available for sale and signing following the lecture.

Grounds for Sculpture, 80 Sculptors Way, Hamilton (609) 586-0616 | groundsforsculpture.org Grounds For Sculpture presents a collection of works created throughout a 12-week drawing program titled Creating Connections: Drawing. This shared experience was an opportunity for participants to develop new skills, revisit past inspirations and engage in reflective conversations, observing and interpreting the natural world. Shared in this exhibition are exercise-based drawings participants used to explore the nature of charcoal, graphite, and ink as a medium, experiment with various mark-making techniques, and gain confidence in the use of positive and negative spaces as compositional elements. More developed drawings highlight each artist's individual style and embrace of their chosen medium. Among these are beautifully drawn representations of sculpture, evocative landscapes, and whimsical characters both figurative and organic.

State Street, Trenton bsbgallery.com Curated by TerraCycle, "Scrapped" features artwork created from reclaimed materials made by local and international artists who are employees and friends of the company. This exhibit was designed to encourage viewers to question their day to day lifestyle and their impact on the planet. The exhibition includes works by Leon Rainbow, Ede Sinkovics, as well as TerraCycle employees. All featured artwork is made from reused materials including old toys, beach plastic, wine corks, and cigarette butts.
