“In winter, I plot and plan. In spring, I move.” - Henry Rollins
Okay, it's not technically the first day of spring (that's March 20), but this little pocket of sunshine that rolled into town the last few days has us dreaming of all the outdoor possibilities to come. Speaking of, have you signed up for our weekly Community Services Newsletter? This department covers sports, recreation, the Maplewood Pool & senior services and puts out their own newsletter every Friday.
As a reminder: On Sunday, March 15, NJ Transit will complete their portal cutover service changes for this spring & regular schedules are expected to resume. In coordination, the Township will resume their regular Jitney schedules on Monday, March 16.

IDEAS FESTIVAL
Join Mary Clare Jalonick in conversation with Maplewood Deputy Mayor Malia Herman at Maplewood Library on March 24 (7 p.m., Maplewood Library, 51 Baker St.) as they discuss Jalonick's critically acclaimed new book: Storm at the Capitol: An Oral History of January 6.
Jalonick delivers a deeply reported & definitive account of the violence at the Capitol told through firsthand narratives—from the rioters themselves and the police who fought them, to the lawmakers who fled the violence, and the staff, workers & reporters who were there that day, including Jalonick herself. This program is free & open to the public; and there will be copies of her book for sale & signing. Check out the rest of the 2026 Ideas Festival lineup here.
