What's a Type C permit? Here's the skinny: Maplewood Township recently passed an ordinance allowing residents in two- or three-family homes with single-wide driveways located within the R-2-4 Zoning District to apply for overnight parking for one (1) vehicle per household. In honor of Transgender Awareness Week, Division of Arts & Culture invites residents to show up to hear & support our Trans Youth on Tuesday, November 18th, at 6:30 PM (Burgdorff Cultural Center, 10 Durand Road).

COMMUNITY BOARD ON POLICE

Are you passionate about public safety, equity, and civic engagement? The Township is looking for two volunteers to serve on our Community Board on Police. This committee plays a vital role in fostering transparency, accountability, and trust between our police department and the community it serves. SNAP UPDATE

Although a legal process remains ongoing, New Jersey Human Services has reassured SNAP consumers that their full November benefits remain active and can be used as needed. Consumers are encouraged to confirm their balances at www.NJfamiliesfirst.com or by calling 800-997-3333.

The weather has cooled off, but our 2025 Maplewood Farmers Market is kicking it until November 24! Bring the whole family down every Monday in November, from 2-7 pm, at 1662 Springfield Avenue (near the Springfield Gazebo). 2025 MAPLEWOOD LEAF PICKUP SCHEDULE

Each Autumn, the Dept. of Public Works schedules four rounds of leaf pickup from residential properties located within Maplewood Township. During this time, residents are permitted to rake all of their leaves from their properties to the street, with certain restrictions (see rules & regulations on our website). Pickups are done on a rotating basis curbside (click here for a printable map & schedule) - and residents are also permitted to drop their leaves off at our DPW yard (359 Boyden Ave.).

WOODLAND RESTORATION GRANT

With the help of a new state preservation grant awarded on September 25, Maplewood’s historic building, The Woodland (60 Woodland Road), is getting a restoration starting in 2026. The Township of Maplewood was awarded a grant of $702,850 for The Woodland from the New Jersey Historic Trust, as part of a state-wide initiative to save and promote historic sites throughout New Jersey. The grant will be used for work in The Woodland’s Great Hall, including structural upgrades in the roof, restoration of wood doors and sidelights, removal of aluminum siding and trim, and revealing of the windows (shown here in photo from 1930) above the side doorways. DEHART PARK SURVEY: With the design for DeHart Park's fields tackled a few months ago via the first round of community input, Maplewood Township's Community Services Dept. is once again seeking public input for DeHart Park - this time for non-field and passive use options for other areas of the park: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XTHWSBG

WE'RE HIRING: Maplewood Township is on the hunt for a Manager for our Recreation Division. Under the direction of our Director of Community Services, this role would be responsible for the organization and supervision of a variety of recreational sports and activities.
