Good morning, Maplewood! We're kicking off this Tuesday with an important message from our Tax Collector's Office:
Dear Maplewood residents: Due to an unforeseen delay from our mailing provider, your 2025 utility bill (including a new line for Maplewood's Stormwater Utility*) went out Wednesday, Aug. 20, and may not have reached your mailbox yet. We can understand some anxiety surrounding the original August 25 due date, but want to reassure residents that the 30-day grace period means your bill is not actually due until September 25, 2025.
The easiest way to pay is with our online AUTOPAY system (https://wipp.edmundsassoc.com/Wipp/?wippid=0711) where you can also register for recurring payments. In fact, you can sign up there today, find out what you owe for this combined bill, and pay it - even before your paper bill arrives in the mailbox.
If you prefer to pay by paper check, please send two separate checks: one for your stormwater payment; and a second check for your combined other sewer charges.
(*Established in 2024, Maplewood’s new Stormwater Utility was created to directly address the impacts of climate change and the growing challenges of stormwater management in Maplewood. The dedicated Stormwater Utility fee is based on a calculation of impervious surfaces on each property, which contributes to stormwater runoff. To learn more about the ordinance, its development, available credits and adjustments and additional resources, visit our stormwater information page at www.maplewoodnj.gov/stormwater-utility.)
Thank you,
Township of Maplewood Tax Collectors Office
NEW CIRCULATION PLAN at COLUMBIA HIGH SCHOOL
Starting Sept. 2, a new circulation plan is in effect for drop-offs and pick-ups at Columbia High School (CHS). The new plan (outlined below) aims to improve pedestrian and automobile safety around the CHS campus by prohibiting student drop-offs along Parker, between Valley & Prospect. Instead, four drop-off zones have been created on Valley Street, Academy Street, North Terrace and Kensington Terrace.
Additionally, from 7:15-8:15 a.m. and 2:10-3:10 p.m., Academy Street, Beach Street, North Terrace and Kensington Terrace will be designated as one-way in sections (see map for details); and South Orange will close Hixon Place at Valley Street, and Sherman Place at Prospect Street.
The CHS Plan is being introduced on a trial basis for at least six weeks so adjustments can be made, as needed, before the plan is finalized later this fall. Additional police officers will be present to help motorists with the new plan.
