Happy Wednesday, Maplewood! Our Farmer's Market is in full swing (every Monday), the Maplewood Pool is open for business, and yes, we know poor Springfield Avenue is busy with construction (better things are coming!). Read on for the latest & greatest out of Town Hall & follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
SPRINGFIELD AVENUE CONSTRUCTION
Our beloved Springfield Avenue is getting a lot of work done this summer (think water main replacement, repaving sidewalks & curbs, and installing new benches). Despite the hubbub, our merchants are very much OPEN FOR BUSINESS and accessible with 4 free parking lots & side street parking. Springfield Avenue Partnership (SAP) made this handy map to highlight their locations. You'll find the map and a list of merchants under recent news on their website: www.springfieldavenue.com.
HALF-DAY CAMPS

Lead Assessments - A reminder that New Jersey requires all owners of rental units built before 1978 to get visual inspection lead assessment in their rental units. Maplewood has partnered with LEW Environmental, a company that can provide lead inspections. They are now sending out a second round of letter for affected property owners who have not yet complied with the law. For more information or to schedule an inspection, head to the Lew Environmental website or call 908-654-8068.
Reach for Recovery Van - Our Reach For Recovery Van, a monthly Substance Use Disorder program in partnership with Essex County & Integrity House, will be back Wed., June 25th at the Maplewood Community Fridge (Corner of Springfield & Indiana St) from 10-2 p.m. This monthly service provides information and resources to anyone with a Substance Use Disorder – or those with a family member, friend, or loved one with a Substance Use Disorder.
Shrubs and Overgrowth - Whether your shrubs are neatly trimmed or bursting with new growth, they may not overhang or impede the sidewalk. Same goes for trees and other plant growth. Be considerate of pedestrians and keep the sidewalks clear!
Gas-Powered Blowers - We may associate the prohibition on using gas-powered blowers with leaves only – but keep in mind they cannot be used in connection with any purpose, including, but not limited to, extermination, gutter cleaning, roofing, tree removal, etc.
