Monthly North Dakota Revenue Report

Sales Tax Collections Remain Strong

Sales tax collections, the state’s largest general fund revenue source and an indicator of consumer confidence and business activity, remain strong for the month of December. Collections for the month were $25.8 million, or almost 30% higher than the original legislative forecast. Total sales tax collections biennium to date are $206.7 million, or 12.4%, more than the forecast. The Armstrong executive forecast, which was released in early January, reflects the growth realized through December and assumes limited growth continues through the rest of fiscal year 2025. The 2025-27 Armstrong executive forecast for fiscal years 26 and 27 assumes continued growth of 3% and 4%, respectively.
