Initiative Intake
Are you looking for a technology solution for your agency? We can help!
The Initiative Intake is a service catalog item in the NDIT Self-Service Portal where you can make a request for new technology projects, business or process analysis. Filling out an Initiative Intake allows NDIT to assist in finding the best solution for your business.
Through the Initiative Intake, NDIT staff can work with you to understand your business need or problem, identify potential solutions to meet the need, and select the appropriate team to implement the solution.
-
IT Project: A specific IT request that has funding. This would be the option to select if you ALREADY know the business problem, possibly the timeframe, and want to look into options.
-
Business/Process Analysis: If you have an idea and want a ballpark estimate, or more research – this will help reduce unnecessary RFPs, not have to re-do things if it doesn’t meet Enterprise Architect and/or Security Standards and considerations. The more we can learn upfront, the less rework and backtracking.
-
Strategic: This is the idea tank, ways to identify problems within the agency that need solutions and can possibly be solved through cross agency solutions. These are captured for potential future implementation, to gather details to request funding, and build future IT strategic plans.
FUTURE STATE: By identifying common threads, we have the potential to lower IT costs for your agencies if there's an opportunity for a statewide solution that enhances the citizen experience. Sharing solutions reduces implementation costs and allows better technical support if the same system is utilized, which may also improve the employee experience.
Some examples are technology such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), systems like Shopping Cart, or Chatbots -like our Virtual Agent.

Smishing
Emails from cyber attackers phishing for your information aren't the only things to watch out for. Text messages can also be used by cyber-criminals attempting to get you to click a link or log in with your credentials. 'Smishing' is a combination of text SMS messages and phishing. This type of tactic typically uses a pretense of urgency and can appear to come from someone important, like your boss, asking you to send information or purchase something like gift cards.
Text Message Scams (Smishing) and what you can do:
-
All state employees should be aware that any urgent / you-must-act-now scenarios are red flags of a social engineering attempt.
-
State officials will never request the purchase of gift cards via a text message.
-
Never click links, reply to text messages, open attachments, or call numbers you don't recognize.
-
Do not respond, even if the message requests that you "text STOP" to end messages.
-
Texting scam attempts can be reported to your wireless service provider by forwarding unwanted texts to 7726 (or "SPAM")
-
Make sure your smart device OS and apps are updated to the latest version.
-
Consider installing anti-malware software on your device for added security.
