Colleagues,
As we previously shared in early November, we have been working closely with departments to finalize the transition of all services previously performed at Carolina Occ Med to our Employee Health & Wellness Center. Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, all County employees will go to the Employee Health & Wellness Center for services that were previously handled through Occ Med.
These services include:
- Workplace injury care
- Post-accident drug testing, as directed by Risk Management
- Pre-employment and random drug testing, coordinated by Human Resources (as required for safety-sensitive positions).
Important Reminders
- For workplace injuries, employees should notify Risk Management (980-210-4278) as soon as possible while en route to the Employee Health & Wellness Center.
- The Employee Health & Wellness Center follows the same operating schedule as the County: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and is closed on holidays observed by the County.
- After hours or on weekends, employees should go to the nearest emergency room.
- For pre-employment drug screenings, no appointment is required; however, Human Resources must be notified in advance of the day a candidate plans to visit the Employee Health & Wellness Center so HR can provide the required authorization for services.
This transition helps streamline services, improve coordination and ensure employees and applicants receive timely care in a familiar, County-supported setting. Information on County Connect has already been updated to reflect this information.
If you have questions about the Employee Health & Wellness Center or these changes, please contact Megan Parks, Director of Strategy & Innovation.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation as we move forward with this update.
