Heads Up

Timesheets Due Early Next Week

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday next week, timesheets will be due early, on Wednesday, Nov. 26. If you plan to take off next week, please submit your timesheet this week. If you have timesheet questions, email payroll.

Required Digital Accessibility Training Begins This Week

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring equal access to information for everyone in our community, all employees will be assigned a Digital Accessibility Training in NEOGOV on Wednesday, Nov. 19. This training must be completed by Friday, Dec. 19. The only employees exempt from this training are those in the Sheriff’s Office and current designated website content contributors who have already completed accessibility training.

The virtual training covers how to create accessible documents, presentations and online materials that meet ADA Title II requirements and WCAG 2.1 AA standards.


Longevity Bonus Coming Soon

On Thursday, Nov. 20, eligible employees will receive a Longevity Bonus, which will be paid via a separate direct deposit payment from their regular paycheck. Those employees will receive a memo with the specific bonus amount provided prior to the scheduled payment. For more information, please review the FAQs available on County Connect. If you have questions about the longevity bonus, please contact your supervisor.


Free Self-Reflection and Leadership Health Course

As a follow-up to our Speaker Series event in October, Forward Partners is offering a free, five-session online course to help you strengthen self-awareness and manage burnout. Learn how to “show up” more intentionally as a leader or team member - both at work and beyond. GIS Day | Nov. 19

Wednesday, Nov. 19, is GIS Day, which is a global celebration of geography information system (GIS) technology and the professionals who help us navigate this valuable resource. Union County is fortunate to have talented GIS professionals in multiple departments.

They are the talented team behind the maps, data visualizations and spatial analyses that enhance services, including land planning, environmental protection, emergency services, and more.

Volunteer Opportunities in Union County

Volunteers are needed to make the Exceptional Children’s Holiday Party a success! This special event, hosted in partnership with Union County 4-H and Union County Public Schools, brings holiday cheer to more than 125 children with exceptional needs. Register in advance by Wednesday, Nov. 19.

There are many ways to get involved:

  • Buddy Volunteers: Be paired with a child to help them make the most of their day.

  • Activity Helpers: Support crafts, games, making popcorn and snow cones, and more.

  • Hospitality Crew: Assist with food, refreshments and welcoming guests.

  • Set-Up & Clean-Up Teams: Assist in preparing the space and closing out the event.

  • Thursday, Dec. 4, 9 – 11:30 a.m. | Sardis Elementary School

Boost Your Well-Being with Zumba!

Turn your workout into a dance party with free, high-energy Zumba classes offered weekly at Human Services (2330 Concord Ave., Monroe). Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 5:30–6:30 p.m., followed by 15 minutes of strength training in the gym. This is a FREE wellness benefit available to all County employees. Wear comfy workout gear, bring water, and get ready to move!

Save the Date: Retirement Celebration

Junior Honeycutt

Union County Water will host a retirement celebration for Junior Honeycutt, Water Superintendent, on Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. The reception will be a drop-in, open house event at the Union County Water Operations Center (4600 Goldmine Rd., Monroe). 

Junior started his career with Union County in 1997 as a heavy equipment operator and was promoted over the years to his current role as Water Superintendent. He also proudly serves as Chief of Bakers Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
