Property Deed Fraud Alert

Scammers sometimes target property owners by recording fraudulent deeds or using property as security for unauthorized loans. The Union County Register of Deeds offers a free Property Notification Alert system that sends an email if a document is recorded in your name. While it can’t prevent fraud, it can help you act quickly if it happens. Read more and sign up for alerts.

New Law Modifies Pool Rules, but Union County Standards Remain

Backyard pool

A recent change to state law exempts certain residential pools used for short-term rentals from requiring a public swimming pool permit. However, Union County Public Health’s oversight of public pools, such as those at hotels, apartment complexes, schools, and gyms, remains unchanged. Our team continues to inspect and permit these facilities to ensure they meet safety and water quality standards. If you’re visiting a rental with a private pool, be sure to follow water safety guidelines.

Back to School Season: Drive Safely!

It's officially back-to-school season, with Union County Public Schools starting the new year on Monday, Aug. 25, and many other private and charter schools heading back to the classroom in the weeks ahead. Help keep kids safe by following the rules of the road for driving in school zones and near school buses.

Watch the video below with helpful reminders, and share this page from NCDOT with your neighborhood or school community.

Play Stopping for a School Bus video

The new school year will bring more traffic on roads at peak hours in the mornings and afternoons. Allow more travel time to reach your destination, particularly where detours are in place due to road construction.

NCDOT has these road closures currently in place throughout Union County that could affect your commute to school or work:

  • The intersection of Potter Rd. & Wesley Chapel Rd. in Wesley Chapel;

  • E. Lawyers Rd. near Brookmill Lane north of Wingate, and

  • A section of New Town Road near the intersection of Waxhaw-Indian Trail Road near Wesley Chapel.

For more information on any of these current projects and road closures, check NCDOT's traffic map: DriveNC.gov
