Property Tax Bills to Be Mailed

Property Tax Bill

Union County's Tax Administration office will mail annual property tax bills to all property owners in mid-August. Tax bills are also available online. The tax bills are mailed directly to the party responsible for payment, either property owners or mortgage companies that are escrowing property taxes. Property taxes are due Monday, Sept. 1, 2025. To avoid interest charges, property tax payments must be paid on or before Monday, Jan. 5, 2026. Read this news story to learn more.

Union County Cooperative Extension Earns State and National Recognition

A team of Union County Cooperative Extension agents recently earned first place at the NC Association of County Agricultural Agents conference for their poster presentation on a two-year cereal rye trial to combat herbicide-resistant Italian ryegrass in the southern piedmont.

Morgan Menaker, Field Crops Agent, earned second place in the Search for Excellence at the National Association of County Agricultural Agents Conference.

These honors reflect the dedication and innovation of our Extension team as they support Union County’s agricultural community with real-world, research-based solutions.

Heat-Related Illnesses Spike Across North Carolina

North Carolina is experiencing dangerously high temperatures, with more than 3,300 emergency room visits reported by July 13, nearly double the five-year average for this time of year.

Symptoms like dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps, and fainting can signal a heat emergency. To stay safe, avoid outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Village of Marvin

Come out to Marvin Efird Park for an evening of appreciation for law enforcement and enjoy free food, a DJ, bounce houses, yard games, and ice cream for purchase on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.


Marshville

Come out to Marshville Municipal Park on Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 6-8 p.m. for National Night Out and a Back to School Bash. 

Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Union County Library is hosting a book sale at the Main Library in Monroe to benefit the Union County Library. The Members-Only Pre-Sale starts Thursday, August 7 at 3 p.m.

Become a Friend of the Library now at any library location or join at the pre-sale to get first pick of like-new books by popular authors. Public sale hours following the pre-sale: Friday, August 8: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, August 9: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
