Union County Receives Second State Grant to Expand Internet Access

High-Speed Internet

Union County has been awarded a second grant through the state’s Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) program to expand internet access in unserved and underserved areas. This new funding will bring high-speed internet to 1,189 homes and businesses—nearly 29% of the county’s eligible locations—helping to close the digital divide. Property Reappraisal Community Information Session

Property owners interested in learning more about the 2025 countywide property reappraisal process are invited to attend an upcoming Community Information Meeting on Thursday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe. The session will be a general information and Q&A forum. Staff will answer questions about the process, but property-specific concerns will not be addressed during the meeting. Property owners with questions about their assessment are encouraged to contact the Tax Administration Office by calling 704.283.3746 or by emailing taxhelp@unioncountync.gov. Sheriff's Office Deputy Johnathan Carter

Union County Sheriff's Office Deputy Johnathan Carter, a dedicated School Resource Officer at Prospect Elementary School, has been selected as the Caught in the Act Employee of the Year! Carter demonstrated exceptional commitment to school safety and engagement with innovative efforts to involve staff and teachers in proactive and comprehensive safety discussions, which strengthened the partnership between law enforcement and the school community. Save the Date: Rabies Vaccine Clinic

Union County will host a low-cost Rabies Vaccine Clinic at Union County Human Services, 2330 Concord Ave., Monroe, on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Vaccinations are $10, cash only.
  • Microchips will be available for $20 each.

Wesley Chapel Spring Fling

Join the Village of Wesley Chapel for a Spring Fling on Saturday, May 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Village Hall. Enjoy bounce houses, a foam pit, balloon animals, yard games, popcorn, and popsicles—bring your own chairs! At 7 p.m., Union County Parks and Recreation will present an outdoor showing of "The Jungle Book."
