Remember to Burn Smart, Burn Safe
Did you know? Careless debris burning is the leading cause of wildfires in North Carolina, and it's also against state law to burn trash, construction materials, or anything man-made. Remember: if it doesn't grow, don't burn it. If you have excess trash, visit unioncountync.gov/waste to learn of disposal options at a site near you. Many disposal services are free for Union County residents.
Learn more about open burning in this video from the NC Division of Air Quality, or learn about burning regulations from the Union County Fire Marshal's Office.
