Early voting begins Oct. 17 and runs through Nov. 2. Registered voters may vote at any early voting site in the County. Visit the Union County Board of Elections website for a list of early voting locations, hours, and additional information.
Union County Christmas Bureau
Now Accepting Applications!
The Union County Christmas Bureau is accepting applications through Friday, Nov. 22 for Union County families and individuals seeking holiday assistance. This donor-funded, volunteer-driven program provides holiday gifts and food to families in need, with support from our generous community.
To apply, call 704-296-4828 (or 980-497-1039 for Spanish) Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Please have the following information ready:
- social security numbers (last four digits)
- monthly gross income
- birthdates, clothing sizes, and gift ideas for children 18 and under.

Become a Read with U Volunteer!
Share your love of reading with a first- or second-grade student by joining UCPS's Read with U program. Volunteers are needed to read with students in person for just 30 minutes each week, helping young learners build confidence and a lifelong love for reading.
Getting started is easy! Simply complete a volunteer application and once approved, a volunteer coordinator from your chosen school will contact you with training and scheduling details.

 Celebrate Community Planning
Union County Planning invites you to Celebrate Community Planning on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 4-6 p.m. at Union County Government Center. Learn about the milestones and achievements since the adoption of Union County 2050 in 2021. J.R. Rowell, Chairman of the Union County Board of Commissioners, will give a brief welcome and speak about the importance of community planning. Several county departments will have informational displays about county initiatives that are a result of the comprehensive plan. Everyone is welcome to attend this open house style event. No RSVP or registration is required.
500 Households Participate in Hazardous Waste Event
Union County Solid Waste hosted its annual Household Hazardous Waste event on Saturday, Sept. 21. Approximately 500 vehicles passed through the collection site during the five-hour event, as Union County residents disposed of approximately 38,845 pounds of household hazardous waste, including herbicides, pesticides, paint, and other materials. The materials were then hauled away for proper disposal. Read more about the successful event on our website.

NCDOT Roundabout Construction & Statewide Survey
Roundabout at Potter Road & NC-200
NCDOT plans to close the intersection of Potter Road and NC-200 Oct. 14 through Dec. 16, to construct a roundabout at the intersection. During construction, traffic will be detoured.
Online Public Survey
NCDOT is conducting an online public survey that may help influence how the state's transportation projects are funded in the future. The survey explores the idea of shifting away from the current "gas tax" funding model to other funding models. NCDOT has asked local governments across the state to share their AdvaNCe Transportation Together website as a resource where you can learn more and share your input.

Autumn Treasures in Downtown Waxhaw
Stroll the streets of downtown Waxhaw during their Autumn Treasures two-day event held Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13. Union County Water
Union County Water has organized a Blood Drive for Monday, Oct. 14 at their Operations Center in Wesley Chapel to help ensure blood banks in North Carolina have the resources they need to meet demand. Please sign-up at this link. You can make an appointment or stop by between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The OneBlood Bus may stay on site past 3:30 p.m. if there is sufficient interest from drop-in donors.

Medication Take Back Day
Union County Sheriff's Office invites you to drop off any expired or unneeded medications on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m. to noon at the Bazemore Active Adult Center. Prescription and over the counter pills, creams, liquids, ointments, inhalers and pet medications are accepted.
