Highway 74 Sweeping

The City of Monroe Engineering Department in conjunction with North Carolina Department of Transportation will be sweeping U.S. Highway 74 (Roosevelt Boulevard) during the weeks of May 20 and May 27, excluding the Memorial Day holiday. During street sweeping operations, temporary lane closures will occur between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Drivers are reminded to take precautions around street sweeping equipment and take alternate routes if possible. Learn about Regional Transportation Planning

The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) - in cooperation with the State of North Carolina - develops transportation plans and programs for the greater Charlotte area, including Union County. You can learn more about the CRTPO and their work by attending CRTPO 101 on Thursday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Town Hall. This event is presented by the Western Union Municipal Alliance. Donation Station at Farmer's Market

Are you looking for a way to directly impact our community? Union County is now part of the Donation Stations initiative, which allows community members to purchase produce directly from farmers at our local farmer's market. The produce is then donated to nearby food pantries. 

Join us on Saturday, May 18, and every third Saturday of the growing season. 

Help Combat Litter in Union County

There is one week left to apply to serve on a new Litter Task Force that will provide input on strategies to address and prevent litter. The Board of County Commissioners will appoint seven members with expertise in one or more of the following areas: agriculture, business management, environmental science, municipal government, solid waste, and volunteer or nonprofit organizations. Rabies Clinic 

Union County is hosting a low-cost Rabies Vaccine Clinic at Union County Human Services, 2330 Concord Ave., Monroe, on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Vaccinations are $10, cash only.
• Microchips will be available for $20.

Blood Drive

Help save lives and schedule an appointment to donate blood at a drive in Indian Trail on Tuesday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
