Timesheets Due Thursday
All Employees: Complete your timesheet no later than Thursday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. Time off should be recorded for the Nov. 4-17 pay period.
Supervisors: Please approve timesheets for your employees by 3 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16.
Reminder: Employees no longer submit time for observed holiday hours under the holiday field on timesheets. Holiday hours will be submitted automatically on each eligible employee’s timecard during the payroll process. Employees should only enter time for actual hours worked on observed holiday hours under the regular hour field and complete the Holiday Worked Submission Form.
If you have timesheet questions, email payroll.
As a reminder, Union County's Travel Policy requires County Management approval for all out-of-state travel. Now, an Out-of-State Travel Request form is available on County Connect. This form must be included in the reimbursement request package to be submitted to Finance.
If you have been issued a county purchasing card (P-Card), only the cardholder should use the card unless a department P-Card has been assigned. Contact Procurement if you have any questions regarding P-Card use.
Before traveling on county business, review the full Travel Policy guidelines.

Water Employees Recognized for Recent Awards
At their regular meeting on Nov. 6, the Board of County Commissioners recognized Union County Water staff for winning industry awards at the state and international levels.
Congratulations to Brett Fisher, Hayden Hunter, Jonathan Jordan, Austin Medlin, and Team Coach Jayme Hargett for earning first place in the Collections Event at the Water Environment Federation's Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC). The team simulated a scenario where utility technicians must connect a 4" PVC lateral sewer to an 8" PVC sewer pipe, replacing a leaking section of an existing 8" PVC sewer pipe while in service and programming an automatic sampler. The team also scored highly in several other events, ultimately placing sixth overall against 55 teams from around the world. Read more on County Connect.

All materials must be in their original labeled containers. You may also bring up to five boxes of documents per person for shredding and expired or unneeded medications (over-the-counter, prescription, or unknown) to dispose of them safely through Operation Medicine Drop.

As our region continues to experience a moderate drought, County Manager Brian Matthews has directed staff to follow the protocol of our Water Shortage Response Plan. The county’s current stage of water restrictions shifted last week from Stage 0 to Stage 1; this stage will remain in effect as staff and regional partners continue to monitor drought conditions. Read more on our website.
Union County Water encourages all customers and county employees to be mindful of their water usage and to prepare for greater restrictions that may go into effect if drought conditions persist. Visit Save Water NC for tips on how to conserve water.
