Vote in the Municipal Elections on Tuesday

Municipal Elections will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7. The last day to vote early at the Union County Library is Saturday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Voters will be asked to show a photo ID when they vote. All voters will be allowed to vote with or without ID. If a voter cannot show photo ID when voting in person, they can still vote by filling out an ID Exception Form. 

Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. Visit the Board of Elections website to learn about candidates, voting precincts, results on Election Day, and more.

County Offices Closed Next Friday

Veterans day

Most Union County Government offices and facilities will be closed Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veterans Day. Click here to read which facilities will be open.

There will not be a Union County Horizon e-newsletter next week. The next issue of the Horizon will be emailed on Nov. 17.

Cane Creek Park Updates

Cane Creek Park Bench

There will be no fee to enter Cane Creek Park starting Wednesday, Nov. 1 through Feb 28, 2024.

Starting Sunday, Nov. 5, park hours will change to 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

Cane Creek Park is a family-oriented, water-based recreation space that encompasses 1,050 acres of land surrounding a 350-acre lake. For trail conditions and activity updates, visit the Cane Creek Park Facebook page.

Veterans Day Events 

The City of Monroe is hosting the annual Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show on Saturday, Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 12. The air show will feature several planes from the World War II era at the Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport. Gates open at 9 a.m. 

Join Union County Veterans Services at the opening ceremony at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.


The Town of Waxhaw honors all veterans on Veterans Day with a ceremony at the Military Wall of Honor in downtown Waxhaw Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.


The Town of Indian Trail will host a Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Town Hall beginning at 6 p.m. 

Grand Reopening of the Cardenas Building

The Alphabet Museum at JAARS in Waxhaw would like to invite all to attend the grand reopening of the Cardenas Building on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The celebration will kick off with a ribbon cutting and a short program as well as activities throughout the day. Click here for more event information

Festival of Trees

The Town of Marshville is hosting the second annual Festival of Trees fundraiser Nov. 9-13. 

You can donate fully decorated artificial trees until Nov. 6 for auctioning off. This will raise funds for the police department's Christmas with Cops event for local youth. The donated trees will be on display at 111 West Main Street, Marshville.
