Beware of Tax Scam

Scam Alert

A Union County business alerted us to a fraudulent letter claiming to be from a Tax Resolution Unit and noting a distraint warrant has been issued for unpaid taxes. Union County does not have a Tax Resolution Unit and our Tax office does not issue warrants. Click here for more information and to view a copy of the fraudulent letter.

Voters Can Now Get Free Photo ID Cards

Registered voters who do not have an acceptable identification card for voting in North Carolina can now go to their county board of elections office to get a free ID. Voters will be asked to show photo ID when voting in North Carolina, starting with the municipal elections this fall. Most voters have a North Carolina driver’s license, which is an acceptable form of photo ID for voting. Those voters do not need to obtain a separate ID.

Click here to view more information from the State Board of Elections office, including other common forms of acceptable ID. No appointment is necessary for visiting the Union County Board of Elections during regular operating hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
