911 Telecommunicators Honored For Saving Lives

Hearts & Hands

Nearly two dozen 911 telecommunicators from Union County Emergency Communications are being recognized by Union EMS for helping save the lives of individuals experiencing cardiac arrest in 2022. Union EMS hosted the annual Hearts and Hands Celebration on April 11, recognizing first responders for their lifesaving efforts. The event allowed 911 telecommunicators a unique opportunity to meet the people whose lives they saved by providing life-saving instructions to the 911 caller for measures including CPR prior to medical help arriving. Critical Intersection Program

Submit Your Input by May 5

Critical Intersection Program

We are continuing to gather feedback through Friday, May 5 for our Critical Intersection Program, which is how Union County prioritizes intersections for future improvements. Answer a few questions and then tag intersections of concern on this interactive map. Your input will help county and municipal staff develop a list of locations where intersection improvements are needed by NCDOT.

So far, the map shows a high number of responses from residents in certain parts of Union County and fewer responses from residents in Fairview, Marshville, Marvin, Mineral Springs, Monroe, and Wingate. If you live in these areas, please help spread the word about this important program. We encourage residents throughout Union County to share their thoughts on intersections that need to be improved.

Help the Senior Nutrition Program Deliver More Than Just Meals

Senior Nutrition Volunteers

Union County's Senior Nutrition program helps improve the lives of seniors in the community. It relies on volunteers who help prepare and deliver meals to seniors. "Volunteering with Senior Nutrition has given me a wonderful opportunity to give back to my community," said Amy Johnson, who volunteers with the program. "It has been so rewarding to meet new people and build special friendships with both the recipients and staff." Read the full story

A special thank you to our volunteers!
