National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Emergency Communications 911 Telecommunicator

Did you know all 911 calls in Union County are answered by our Emergency Communications team? Last year, our dedicated team of 41 employees answered 205,730 calls for police, fire and medical help.

Thank you to our 911 telecommunicators, led by Vicki Callicut, for all you do to help Union County residents!

Procurement Team Wins State Award

Procurement State Award

Congratulations to our Procurement and Contract Management Department for receiving the North Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing 2022 Sustained Professional Purchasing Award!

The Sustained Professional Purchasing Award is presented annually and recognizes all member agencies that have demonstrated sustained excellence in purchasing standards during the calendar year. The Procurement & Contract Management Department is one of 16 agencies throughout the association to receive this award. This is the seventh consecutive year Union County's Procurement and Contract Management team has received this award. Click here to read more.

Integrated Preparedness Planning Workshop

Integrated Preparedness Planning Workshop

Union County hosted an Integrated Preparedness Planning Workshop last week with numerous community partners. The periodic meeting, led by Jay Gurianestablishes the strategy and structure for an exercise and training program in the realm of public health, with a goal of training and testing partner organizations to ensure they have the capabilities to handle public health threats and hazards.

Thank you to representatives from these 11 County departments who participated: Public Health, Social Services, Human Services Business Operations, Emergency Management, Emergency Communications, Public Communications, Transportation, Water, IT, Environmental Health, and Community Support and Outreach.

Our Social Services team planted pinwheels around the Human Services sign to bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention Month. Click here to view a slideshow of pictures or on the image to the right to view it larger.

Since 2008, Pinwheels for Prevention gardens have been raising awareness and financial support for policies and programs that enable children, families, and communities to thrive. You can even plant a digital pinwheel in a virtual garden with a $10 donation.
