The Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show will be held Nov. 6 and Nov. 7 at the Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport. 

In 2005 Warriors & Warbirds started as a dream of several local pilots. With help from the City of Monroe, the Veterans Council of Union County, local businesses, and the hard work of volunteers, the Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show has grown into one of the area’s largest aviation events honoring those who have served. Cruise-in for an outdoor movie on Nov. 12 at 6:00 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs for the showing of the movie "F9" at the Union County Government Center Plaza. The free event is offered through a partnership with Union County Parks and Recreation and Monroe Parks and Recreation. Check out more information about this event.

The Town of Waxhaw broke ground on a new downtown park on Oct. 29. The ceremony marked the start of Phase 1 for 9.9 acres of park space.

The Town of Waxhaw was awarded $425,000 from N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust Fund for Phase II (amenities) of the Waxhaw Downtown Park project and the town will match the grant to bring the entire project to life. Read the full story and see the projected completion timeframe.
