Monroe Receives $425,000 Parks & Recreation Grant

Monroe Grant

Governor Roy Cooper announced the N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) has awarded nearly $5 million in grants to fund 16 local parks and recreation projects across the state, including $425,000 to the City of Monroe.

“We are extremely happy and excited not only to receive this grant, but also to get started on this project,” said Tonya Edwards, Monroe Parks and Recreation Director.

Tommy Taylor

Tommy Taylor Memorial Fishing Tournament

Union County Parks and Recreation will host the 5th Annual Tommy Taylor Memorial Bass Fishing Tournament on Oct. 31 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The early registration fee of $40 will end on Oct. 23. Warbirds

Warbirds are BACK!

The City of Monroe welcomes everyone to the "Warbirds Over Monroe" 2020 Air Show. This spectacle will be held on Nov. 7 and 8 at the Charlotte Monroe Executive Airport. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. Follow their Facebook Event Page to receive up-to-date information.

Cane Creek Park will be changing its hours to 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning on Nov. 1. 

Currently, Cane Creek Park hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
