EMBARGOED: COVID-19 Impact Analysis of Lost Instructional Time Report News Release

NCDPI Bulletin Header

Public Information Officers,

Please find attached an EMBARGOED news release from the Department of Public Instruction on the COVID-19 Impact Analysis of Lost Instructional Time Report to be publicly released Wednesday, March 2, to the State Board of Education.

The below press release and all content within it are embargoed until the Office of Learning Recovery and Acceleration (OLR) has concluded its presentation to the board on 3/2/22. The presentation is estimated to begin around 2 p.m., but please note this time is subject to change pending the pace of the morning agenda.

To facilitate understanding of lost instructional time in LEAs and schools, additional supports will be made available to LEAs:

  • NCDPI is working with SAS to develop a district-level version of the state’s preliminary report. This will allow for districts to understand average student-level growth at the district level and how it aligns with the state-level report as presented to the SBE. More information will be shared once this material is developed and available for districts.
  • The EVAAS restricted site will be updated to include measures of lost instructional time. These updates include student-level measures as well as aggregated student measures for districts, schools and student groups. On March 9, these reports will be available to users of the EVAAS restricted site depending on their account permissions, and they help users understand the extent of lost instructional time for groups of students in their schools and districts by assessed content area.

Thank you for your assistance and understanding of the embargoed materials.
