Report on COVID-19 Impact Analysis of Lost Instructional Time Scheduled Thursday, Feb. 24
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s Office of Learning Recovery and Acceleration (OLR) is hosting a background briefing with media on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. about a comprehensive study conducted in partnership with the SAS EVAAS team, measuring the impact of lost instructional time on North Carolina’s students during the 2020-21 school year.
This analysis is the first of its kind in the state and one of the first statewide studies conducted nationally, which analyzes the overall impacts of COVID-19 on public school units, students and families.
The Feb. 24 media briefing will provide an understanding of the report’s purpose, process and how the findings will be used moving forward. Time will be allotted for Q&A as well.
Key findings from the report will be presented March 2 to the State Board of Education. The full report will be released following the presentation.
This briefing call will not be used to share data or results from the report. Due to time constraints during the March 2 State Board meeting, the OLR presenters do not plan to discuss the report’s purpose, process, etc., so this briefing was designed to meet that need in advance of the release and presentation of the detailed findings.
We hope you will be able to participate, as the webinar provides a great opportunity to ask questions and make sure you understand the research study in advance of the release.
