Celebrating National School Psychology Week (NSPW)

National School Psychology Week (NSPW) is November 9 -13!
This week, reserved in November, was formerly known as ‘School Psychology Awareness Week’ (SPAW). The change in the name, although subtle to some, underscores the movement beyond ‘awareness’ to actual ‘recognition’ of the work that school psychologists do to support the academic and social-emotional/behavioral development of children and youth.
This year’s theme is ‘The POWER of POSSIBILITY’, and has several descriptors around the theme. The video (click picture or link below) expands on these descriptors to convey the spirit of school psychology and the impact that school psychologists can have at the system, group, and individual level, when their roles are genuinely understood and supported.
Today’s word is ‘appreciation’.
On behalf of the NC Department of Public Instruction, the tireless work of NC School Psychologists is deeply appreciated.
