Reflections from Mr. Alex Quigley, Chair, Charter Schools Advisory Board (CSAB)
Charter Leaders and Friends,
I
know that this time of year takes on a whole new level of focus as we return
from spring break and make the final push to the end of the year. The CSAB wants you
to know that we are in the trenches alongside you, rooting for all of your
schools to succeed as we make the final push toward summer.
We
hope that many of you were able to tune into our most recent meeting, held
virtually via webinar, to hear our discussions regarding charter replication,
support organization classifications, and the renewal process. As our members
debate these policies we are careful to keep front and center the amount of work
you have on your plates and how CSAB can make sure we maximize your time and
impact.
Finally,
we want to make sure everyone knows that the Office of Charter Schools (OCS) will
again be submitting a grant application for the federal CSP Grant, with the
hopes of accessing federal funds designed to further the expansion of
high-quality charter schools across the country. Should NC be a recipient of the grant, this grant could provide much
needed funds for those seeking to replicate best practices and expand their
charter school models across the state. Many thanks to the extra effort from OCS to get this grant submitted on a very tight timeline.
Here's
to hoping that by the time you read this spring will truly be here to
stay!
