Unique Professional Development Opportunity Now Available
for Assistant Principals
DPI is now providing assistant principals with an
opportunity to participate in Observation Calibration Training (OCT). This
online platform provides administrators the opportunity to improve their skills
as a classroom observer using the NCEES rubric.
Participants will be able to watch classroom videos,
observe instruction, rate teachers, and receive immediate feedback as to the
recommended ratings. Participants have the option of participating as an
individual or as a LEA/Charter team. In the 2014-2015 pilot and the
2015-2016 implementation, the more lessons
school administrators completed, the more their scoring improved.
For specific questions about this opportunity, please
visit the Observation Calibration Training (OCT)
Page or email Kimberly Simmons at kimberly.simmons@dpi.nc.gov.

Register for 2nd Fall Session of Instructor-led Online Courses
Mark your calendars! Our second session of facilitated online courses will start Monday, Oct. 17. Registration is limited to 35 participants per section. Register here.
Below is the list of instructor–facilitated online courses being offered by Educator Effectiveness, NCDPI for the Fall Session 2. (Unlike these facilitated courses, our self-paced modules are always open for enrollment.) Our facilitated courses provide the opportunity to interact with peers and an instructor along with high-quality professional development. They combine the flexibility of working from anywhere at any time, and the benefits of working with a cohort of peers.
