PowerSchool Eligible Schools Summary Report (ESSR)
Training for
PowerSchool-ESSR, which includes an option for Community Eligibility Provision
will be held several times. PowerSchool-ESSR submission for 2016-17 is required
by all LEAs and charters, regardless of Title I status. Please sign up for at least one date and time using the links provided. Contact Allison Yarboro with questions or concerns via email allison.yarboro@dpi.nc.gov.

State Board of Education Meets Next Week
The State Board of Education will meet next week, March 2-3, in the 7th
Floor Board Room, Education Building, 301 N. Wilmington Street, Raleigh.
Please note that Board members
will discuss all agenda items (unless otherwise noted) in their committee
meetings on Wednesday, March 2. Board members will summarize their Committee
discussions and take action on agenda items as appropriate during their full
Board meeting on Thursday, March 3.
The agendas and executive summaries are posted online (under Meetings tab). The
State Board’s committee meetings and full Board meeting are audio
streamed for those who can’t attend.

Annual Census of Students with Deaf-Blindness

State Committee of
Practitioners to Meet
The State Committee of Practitioners (COP) will meet on Tuesday, March 8,
from 1-4 p.m., in Room 504 of the Education Building, 301 N. Wilmington Street,
Raleigh. Committee members will discuss several keys issues regarding the Every
Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and receive federal program updates. An agenda
is attached.
The COP serves in an advisory capacity to the state in carrying out its
responsibilities under federal programs authorized through the Elementary
and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). As federally required, the COP must
review any proposed or final state rule or regulation that is related to ESEA
federal programs.

Office of State Controller Foreign Nationals Tax Compliance
The
Office of the State Controller is pleased to announce the 2016 training
curriculum for its Foreign Nationals Tax Compliance Program. These
i training sessions will be provided via WebEx, at no charge, to all state
agencies, universities, community colleges, local education agencies and
charter schools, if applicable. Please reference the audience column for
each training to determine if the training is applicable to you and your
agency. There are two options for registering. You can register for
the entire Foreign National Program by clicking

The first webinar topic will be Foreign Nationals Tax Compliance
– Employees, Vendors & Students, which be held on March 16th,
2016, 9:00am – 11:00am. This training will discuss the
basics to processing foreign nationals.
