Solid Waste Services Continues to Assist Customers

With New Schedules

The City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services Department continues to work with customers who are adjusting to a new collection schedule. More than 43,000 Raleigh households changed their collection day, recycling week, or both after Labor Day. The department mailed or delivered service schedules to all customers earlier this summer.

As the City provides weekly collection of garbage and yard waste and biweekly collection of recycling, all customers will receive these three services within a two-week period. After two weeks of following the new route structure, all households have been serviced according to schedule.

However, the Solid Waste Services Department is currently working to assist customers who were unaware of the recent schedule changes. To request special collection of garbage, recycling, or yard waste, call 919-996-6890. Customers are advised to leave carts at the curb until they have been serviced, as crews are currently working irregular hours.

Customers may determine their correct service schedule by using the Find My Service tool (http://www.raleighnc.gov/services/content/ITechWebServices/Articles/FindMyService.html) on the City of Raleigh’s website. The Solid Waste Services Department will also mail postcards to its 113,000 customers to remind each household of its correct schedule.

The Solid Waste Services Department’s call center (919-996-6890) is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Customers may also leave a voicemail message on nights and weekends. The call center is currently experiencing high call volume. Missed collection may also be reported on the City website’s at .http://www.raleighnc.gov/portal/portal/cor/ext/SWSServReq

The City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services Department thanks all customers for their patience during this time of transition.
