Partnership Launches Comprehensive Raleigh Arts Calendar
The Office of Raleigh Arts has formed a partnership with the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, CVNC and the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau to develop a comprehensive calendar for arts events in the Capital City.
“Arts groups and patrons have long asked for a unified arts calendar, and in response these four partners have collaborated on a robust and user-friendly platform,” said Jerry Bolas, executive director of the Office of Raleigh Arts.
Viewable at www.visitraleigh.com/events/arts, the arts calendar – searchable by date, genre, location, presenter and more – provides a multifaceted view of the Raleigh arts scene.
“The partners hope to increase participation in arts events throughout the city while growing the impact of the arts on our local economy and raising the visibility of our vibrant community throughout the country,” Mr. Bolas said.
CVNC, an arts partner of the City of Raleigh Arts Commission and the United Arts Council, is key in providing arts groups with a monitored gateway to format and upload materials to the calendar. The system was devised by CVNC and the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“We are so pleased that the calendar is up and running after several years of planning and study to create a comprehensive arts calendar for our area,” said Eleanor Oakley, president and CEO of the United Arts Council. “After much analysis of options, it came down to who could offer a robust calendar with good technology and an uncomplicated way for arts groups to promote their events. CVNC was already a leader in the arts calendar process, so they were a natural fit. United Arts is happy to work with the Office of Raleigh Arts to help make this a reality."
The calendar has applications for most devices, enabling customized arts information including venue maps, local points of interest, restaurants, hotels and other area events.
The Office of Raleigh Arts is a division of the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. It supports and promotes the arts in Raleigh by administering the programs of the City’s Arts Commission and the Public Art and Design Board and overseeing the Pullen and Sertoma arts centers.
