Red Hat Says ‘Welcome’ and ‘Thank You’ With Free Concert

One of Downtown Raleigh’s most prominent corporate residents, Red Hat Inc., is hosting a free concert on Friday, August 2 at Red Hat Amphitheater. Alternative rockers Silversun Pickups will headline the event with supporting acts to be announced in the coming weeks. Raleigh-based Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source software solutions, recently moved its headquarters to Downtown Raleigh. The concert will act as a way for Red Hat to thank the downtown Raleigh community for embracing its move as well as serve as a “Welcome to Downtown” party for Red Hat employees. The concert also will celebrate the one-year anniversary of Red Hat’s sponsorship of the Downtown concert venue.

Taking place during the First Friday events, the free concert hopes to give the Raleigh community and Red Hat employees a chance to celebrate together. No tickets will be required for the concert. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m.

“Red Hat is extremely excited to be in Downtown Raleigh,” said DeLisa Alexander, executive vice president and chief people officer at Red Hat. “This year marks our 20th anniversary as a company, and it’s an honor to host such a fun event for the city, the Downtown Raleigh community, and Red Hat employees. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our move than with our neighbors.”

The Red Hat Amphitheater is a 6,000 seat venue in Downtown Raleigh, adjacent to the Raleigh Convention Center. Since opening, the venue has played host to bands such as Stone Temple Pilots, Vampire Weekend, the North Carolina Symphony, Bob Dylan, and My Morning Jacket.
