Flood and Hurricane Preparedness
The Stormwater Management Division is monitoring weather, stream, and lake conditions across the city. We also lowered water levels at several Raleigh lakes and cleaned clogged storm drains to reduce flood hazards.
What You Can Do To Stay Safe
- Don't drive through flooded roads or bridges.
- Call 911 if you're stuck or if the street is flooded.
- Pay attention to yellow flood warning signs.
- Notify Stormwater Maintenance at 919-996-6446 if there is a clogged storm drain.
There are some stormwater systems and streets that are maintained by the City of Raleigh versus the NC Department of Transportation. To determine if a street or right or way is maintained by the City, visit the Interactive Street Maintenance Map before submitting a service request.
Floodplains and Flood Insurance
Do you know if you live near a floodplain? Check our floodplain map to see if your address is close to a flood prone area.
If you do live in a flood prone area, flood insurance is strongly recommended. For more information about flood insurance, visit the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program website.
