SWRA 2019

The Raleigh Appearance Commission invites Raleigh’s designers to create original designs for the award certificate for the 37th annual Sir Walter Raleigh Awards. The original certificate was designed over 15 years ago and the Commission, who produces the awards program, plans to introduce a new certificate design each year to be presented to award winners.

Interested designers are encouraged to submit a portfolio of five (5) design pieces showcasing their talents. The top three finalists will be awarded a $150 stipend to create three sketches of possible certificate designs. The winning designer will be awarded a $1,000 honorarium and receive recognition at the Sir Walter Raleigh Awards ceremony on October 2, 2019.

The Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Community Appearance recognize outstanding new contributions to the character, environment, and appearance of the City of Raleigh. Since 1983, the Raleigh Appearance Commission has presented more than 200 awards to developers, designers, building owners, community groups, civic clubs, churches, and citizens.

Deadline for submissions is July 8, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. Email submissions to lee.stevens@raleighnc.gov.
