UPDATE: Tropical Depression Four
The National Hurricane Center is now issuing advisories on Tropical Depression Four, which is expected to strengthen into a Tropical Storm as it tracks west of the Florida Peninsula this weekend, bringing some impacts to the Carolinas during the first part of next week. The potential for heavy rainfall and flooding is the primary impact at this time. Gusty winds are also possible, but it is too early to predict specific impacts in great detail at this time.
While there is NO immediate threat to Oak Island, this weekend provides a good opportunity to review and update all Personal Preparedness plans.
The SEVERE WEATHER INFORMATION page of the Town Website has been activated, with daily updates on Town response being provided at OakIslandNC.gov/WX.
