New Hanover County Public Library Offers Downloadable Music from Freegal

(New Hanover County, NC) - New Hanover County Public Library announces a new subscription through Library Ideas™ that offers local library card holders access to over 3 million songs, according to Library Director Harry Tuchmayer.
Known as Freegal™ Music Service, this new subscription increases the amount and diversity of the music that New Hanover County Public Library borrowers can access. Joining libraries all over the world, the collection includes Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists, as well as over 10,000 music labels from 65 different countries.
Registered card holders of the New Hanover County Public Library can now download 3 Freegal Music tracks in the MP3 format each week at no direct cost via www.nhclibrary.org.
Freegal Music Service recently announced the availability of free mobile apps for registered cardholders of subscribing libraries. The Freegal Music apps are available in the Apple® App Store and Google Play®.
“We have been waiting a long time for a service like this that delivers great music, compatibility with lots of devices and simplicity of use. We think this will be incredibly popular with our patrons and will help the Library in marketing all its services to the community,” said Harry Tuchmayer.
“Sony Music has an incredibly expansive and popular catalog and we are really excited to partner with them on this, a very important product for libraries,” said Brian Downing, co-founder of Library Ideas. “A library is a focal point of the community that requires many tools to excite people about library resources.
