School Programs this Month

Our staff taught at various schools this month, the following picture is from the Friends School of Wilmington for their Earth Day Celebration. We joined other local organizations at this festival. There were nine stations and we had a soils station. We taught pre-k through 8th grade about types of soils, how water moves through soil, and the living properties of soil with the use of worms!

Future Volunteer Opportunity

This month we marked 15 storm drains in a neighborhood in the city limits. Marking storm drains is important because it notifies individuals that everything that goes down the storm drain will eventually make its way into either the Intracoastal Waterway or the Atlantic Ocean. If you are interested in volunteering with us in the future to mark storm drains please email jstitt@nhcgov.com. The following link goes to a GIS map which allows you to put in your address to learn what watershed you live in!

Canines for Clean Water

We will be at Ruff Draft this Saturday May 4th at their Pet Industry Fair. We will be representing Canines for Clean Water and teaching about picking up their dog waste so it doesn't end up in our waterways. Come visit us, if you are a dog owner sign the pledge and get a bandana for your dog.
