Cumberland County Schools Recognized for Excellence in Budget Presentation &
Celebrates Outstanding Premier Professionals
FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Another win is ‘in the books’ for Cumberland County Schools (CCS) as the district continues to demonstrate excellence in school business operations. Six outstanding Premier Professionals from CCS—Director of Business Operations Beth Gray, Finance Manager Theresia Mask, Payroll Manager Teresa Carter, Internal Auditing Specialist Ashley Johnson, Director of Internal Auditing Christine Jumalon and Accounting Coordinator Kenneth Villareal—have successfully completed the prestigious North Carolina Association of School Business Officials (NCASBO) School Business Management Academy Director Certification.
These professionals were awarded their framed NCASBO School Business Management Academy Director Certification certificates, marking the culmination of their hard work and commitment to excellence. This remarkable achievement highlights their dedication and expertise in school business operations. Certification requires the completion of 36 rigorous courses, each accompanied by a comprehensive assessment. The curriculum covers essential topics that include accounting, financial management, legal responsibilities and business office operations.
In addition to this outstanding professional achievement, CCS Business Operations has also been recognized for its commitment to sound fiscal management and budgetary policies. The district received the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the fiscal year 2024–2025 from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).
The ASBO International’s MBA and introductory Pathway to the MBA programs promote and recognize excellence in school budget presentation. Program participation enhances school business officials’ skills in developing, analyzing and presenting a school system budget. Receiving this award reflects CCS’ dedication to transparency, accountability and financial stewardship in managing the district’s budget effectively.
These dual recognitions exemplify CCS’ unwavering commitment to operational excellence, professional development and responsible financial management, highlighting the incredible work happening across the district.
