District Group Formed to Foster Community Engagement Hailed A Success
Fayetteville, N.C. — After completing its inaugural year, Cumberland County Schools' (CCS) Key Communicators program is being hailed as a success!
District administrators and Key Communicators from across the community gathered this morning over breakfast in the Central Services' Board Room to mark the first year of the group's inception.
Led by CCS' Communications & Community Engagement department, Key Communicators are community members from diverse stakeholder groups throughout the county. They have met bi-monthly with CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr., to discuss community issues relevant to CCS and receive essential updates about the district and its innovative programs.
In forming the group, the department was successful in pinpointing community members in each of the smaller communities within the district who are actively involved, open to candid discussions and willing to effectively represent their communities.
"This past school year, we have seen where our Key Communicators played a crucial role in nurturing a thriving community by facilitating the sharing and exchange of information about CCS among members of their communities," said CCS' Associate Superintendent of Communications & Community Dr. Lindsay Whitley. "Our 19 Communicators are ultimately driving positive growth for their community and its residents. We truly look forward to another year of fostering meaningful partnerships and open communication which ultimately builds a stronger foundation for student success."
The implementation of the Key Communicators Program has produced notable outcomes. The program's trusted messengers, armed with precise and transparent information, have emerged as agents for change, connecting CCS with stakeholders. They have not only conveyed news but also dispelled misinformation, cultivating a culture of trust and cooperation.
The Key Communicators have already begun making plans for the 2024-2025 school year.
Below are photos captured of the 2023-2024 Key Communicators engaging to 'make a difference' in the schools and community.
