Cumberland County Schools Recognizes Outstanding Achievements: February Awardees Shine with Extra Mile and Committed Community Support Honors
Fayetteville, N.C. – Cumberland County Schools (CCS) proudly announces the recipients of two highly coveted awards in our community for February. Tinna Mapp, a dedicated clerk at John Griffin Middle School, has been honored with the Extra Mile Award. Keith Collier, the steadfast President of the Pine Forest High School Athletic Booster Club, is recognized as the recipient of the Committed Community Support Award.
Extra Mile Award Recipient: Tinna Mapp
The Extra Mile Award celebrates employees who consistently exhibit outstanding performance and inspire others to strive for excellence.
Tinna Mapp, the Extra Mile Award recipient, was chosen for her exceptional communication and listening skills, showcasing her patience, compassion and understanding of student needs. Cristen Frazier, Instructional Coach at John Griffin Middle School, noted, "She is personable, imaginative, intelligent and is motivated by a deep sense of personal pride as well as genuine concern for the welfare of scholars, staff, families and our community." According to Frazier, Mapp is always ready to step in and be a problem solver in any situation. "Ms. Tinna Mapp is the unsung hero at John Griffin," continued Frazier.

Committed Community Support Award Recipient: Keith Collier
The Committed Community Support Award is presented to an individual or group for their selfless dedication to supporting the school system. Keith Collier, the awardee of the Committed Community Support Award, dedicates nearly three days of his time per week on average to raising funds for Pine Forest High School Athletics.
Lonnie Cox, Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Pine Forest High School, expressed, "Mr. Collier's commitment to Pine Forest High School is incredible. He goes above and beyond to not only support our athletic program but also to build a bridge of communication and trust between the school and the surrounding community." Cox continued, "He genuinely loves Pine Forest High School, its students and staff, and the community as a whole. We are proud to nominate him for this award."

The Committed Community Support Award is for mentors, businesses, community partners, parents and volunteers who dedicate their time and resources to assist schools and help students succeed. Submit your nominations by the 10th of each month here.

A selection committee reviews nominations on a monthly basis and selects one winner for each award. Winners are recognized during the Cumberland County Board of Education’s regular monthly meetings from October through May.
