UPDATE: NORTH SHARON AMITY ROAD

This is an update to the closure notice sent on 6/27/2011. 

CSX Railroad has revised their planned construction schedule.  The closure of North Sharon Amity Road has been moved up to this weekend.  Please note the date changes below.

 

UPDATE: NORTH SHARON AMITY ROAD
To complete railroad crossing repairs started last week, CSX Railroad will close the 1500 block of North Sharon Amity Road (between Delane Avenue and Montague Street) at 9:00 a.m. on 7/2/2011 through 5:00 p.m. on 7/3/2011.  Traffic can detour around the closure by following signs along Randolph Road, North Wendover Road, and Monroe Road.  Congestion and delays are to be expected and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. Access to all businesses within the closure WILL be maintained. CATS WILL be affected. Questions? Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent work from being completed as scheduled, and make it unsafe to reopen lanes or streets when planned.  When this occurs, City traffic engineers work directly with other City staff and contractors to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and reduce impacts to the traveling public. 

Motorists traveling through work zone areas should be alert and extra cautious.  Drivers should get in the correct lane well in advance and constantly be on the lookout for vehicles merging into adjacent travel lanes as they approach a work zone.  Drivers should double their following distance.
