CLEANING UP AFTER FLOODS AND PREPARING FOR MORE RAIN

 

Charlotte—Mecklenburg received heavy rain this past week that resulted in flooding throughout large parts of the region. To prepare for the likelihood of more rain, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services offers important flood safety information as well as steps that you can take to prevent storm drains from becoming clogged.

 

MECKLENBURG COUNTY REPORTS LOWEST LITTER INDEX SINCE PROGRAM BEGAN

 

Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful, an environmentally conscious citizen engagement effort directed by Mecklenburg County Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA), conducts an annual Litter Index Survey (LIS) to measure the amount of visible litter in the county. The 2013 LIS score of 1.14 is the lowest reported since the program began in 2003.

 

 

LEARN HOW YOU CAN HELP PARK AND RECREATION BUILD A PLAYGROUND IN MEMORY OF THE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS LOST IN NEWTOWN

 

Park and Recreation will construct a playground at Park Road Park to memorialize the students and teachers lost in the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Construction will begin later this year.
