Thank You, Code Heroes!

Code Heroes

We look forward to May all year here at Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement.

That's because May is Building Safety Month, and it's a chance to spotlight the importance of building codes and the work code officials perform in communities around the world.

But for the last few years in Mecklenburg County, we've also used it as something more -- a chance to stay "thank you" to just a few of our many phenomenal customers who are doing a great job of contributing to a safe and thriving Mecklenburg County.

Typically, we'll begin meeting in March to talk about which customers we would like to recognize with the title of "Code Hero". But no one needs to tell you that this March was a bit different than previous years.

As we searched for new ways to meet our customer needs in the age of COVID-19 and social distancing, we were so grateful for our customers, who were deemed essential and continued to work. From the first days of Live Remote Inspections, to social distancing on the job site, to conducting plan review meetings via video conference, our customers could not have been more flexible, accommodating or understanding.

Our choice for our 2020 Code Hero became obvious. This year, our heroes are you -- all of our customers, who have worked in a pandemic, making critical repairs and continuing the work of building Mecklenburg County. You're all our Code Heroes because of your commitment, contribution, and willingness to do what is needed in our community. We're so proud to be your partners in making sure that community is safe and thriving.

So, this year, we celebrate all of you. We're proud to continue serving you during this time. And we're grateful for the essential work you do in our community, year-round.

Thanks for being our Code Heroes.
