CODE ENFORCEMENT ROLLS OUT NEW ONLINE SERVICES

 

CHARLOTTE, NC – Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement is continuing the development of new online services that will allow customers to better interact with the department without ever having to set foot in the building.

 

“Electronic customer interaction is rapidly becoming the ‘new normal’ and more efficient medium to transact business,” said Tim Taylor, manager at Code Enforcement’s Commercial and Residential Technical Assistance Centers. “It’s our goal to offer our customers as much convenience as we possibly can.”

 Currently, there are three electronic paths to submit permits:

·         HIP (Homeowner Internet Permitting)

·         TIP (Trades Internet Permitting)

·         Internet Permit Application Submittal

New Programs and Policies Effective February 1, 2012:

EPS/EPR (Electronic Plan Submittal & Electronic Plan Review) will be available for OnSchedule and Mega Projects. Utilizing the existing Electronic Plan Management System, (EPM) customers will be able to schedule their project for review and then submit the electronic drawings. New Programs and Policies Effective March 1, 2012

CTAC EPS/EPR (Electronic Plan Submittal & Electronic Plan Review) will be available for projects previously submitted through CTAC plan review process. A complete description of our CTAC processes and project types can be found on the web page at www.meckpermit.com

 

New Programs and Policies: Coming Soon

Code Enforcement allows customers to choose paper or electronic transaction, but electronic interaction is more efficient and less costly to the department, and more environmentally friendly. Customers who choose to use paper when an electronic medium is available will be charged fees to their permit/project to offset our cost. Processing paper permits will be an additional $9.50 and customers choosing to submit paper plans will have the option of having their plans converted to PDF format, or Code Enforcement will have the plans converted through an outside vendor at the rate of $1.00 per page plus any shipping charges. There will also be a $31.60 per-hour fee for County staff to input project data into our EPS/EPR program.

Customer Support Kiosks will be available on the first floor of the Hal Marshall County Services Center at 700 N. Tryon St. for customers who prefer to submit their applications for permitting while in the Code Enforcement office.
