Hurricane Florence Update

The City of Charlotte is closely monitoring Hurricane Florence and encouraging residents to prepare for inclement weather. Forecasts can change quickly, and we work closely with the National Weather Service and other state and local partners to stay informed and adjust our plans accordingly.

The City of Charlotte is using this time for all departments to plan for Hurricane Florence, knowing that we’ll need to be agile and flexible as new developments occur. While we’re monitoring conditions and making preparations, we strongly advise the public to do the same.

  • Now is the time before the storm to clear nearby storm drains and small creeks.
  • Keep curb and gutters free of leaves, litter and branches
  • Please call 911 for true emergencies. Use 311 to request non-emergency services.
  • Review your family preparedness plan. Don’t forget to include your pets in your planning.
  • Take inventory of your emergency kit and restock on essentials. Visit charlottenc.gov for preparedness information.

September is National Preparedness Month, so now is a great time to think about preparedness and safety for all emergency situations.
