NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY Final Environmental Impact Statement Ready For Public Review and Comment
CATS and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently announced that the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed LYNX Blue Line Extension (BLE) Northeast Corridor Light Rail Project is available for public review and comment. The Final EIS addresses the potential transportation and environmental impacts, responds to comments on the Draft EIS and describes the planned mitigation measures.
The public review and comment period will run through Thursday, October 27, 2011. Written comments must be postmarked, faxed or emailed by October 27, 2011. The Final EIS is available electronically on CATS' Final EIS web page. Hardcopies of the Final EIS are available for public review at CATS' main office (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, ninth floor) and in the following libraries: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Library—Main Branch, Sugar Creek Branch, and University City Regional Branch; J. Murrey Atkins Library—UNC Charlotte and the State Library of North Carolina in Raleigh, NC. For more information regarding the Final EIS or to submit written comments, contact:

The BLE team held a public meeting to share information about the Final EIS, 65 percent design plans, station site plans and the current schedule for the Blue Line Extension on October 11, 2011. You can view a copy of the presentation on the meetings summaries page. Maps showing the real estate and environmental impacts and station site plans were also on display during the meeting. These project maps can also be viewed on the BLE Alignment Maps page.
